A lot of people meet their agent the first time at a house. They see a home they like, contact an agent, meet at the house and see it. That’s where the relationship starts. If you’re buying a home in the Barrie real estate market then you will save yourself a lot of time and aggravation by meeting ahead of time.

One of the best things to do is meet your agent ahead of time. Even if its over a coffee at a local coffee shop. There are plenty of reasons to do this. The most important one is to see if they are someone you actually want to work with. You’re probably going to be spending a lot of time with them and need to trust your REALTOR with one of the biggest purchases you’ll ever make. Meet ahead of time, get to know them and their style, see if it fits with you.

Not only will it help you determine if you want to work with them but it can save you a lot of time. When I sit with my clients we go over everything about their wants and needs. We really narrow it down so I get a feeling for exactly whats most important. That why I can better understand what you’re looking for and potentially even help you find something you didn’t even realize would fit your needs. This happens more than you might think.

On top of that, for most real estate agents, its also a security/safety issue. Especially with homes selling vacant it can be potentially dangerous to meet people for the first time. Most agents would rather meet somewhere public and gauge how they feel about them too. Its happened before and it no doubt will happen again in the future where a real estate agent has been attacked or worse in a home for sale. While you know you’re not the type of person to do that, the agent you’ve contacted by phone, email, social media, or some other means doesn’t mean they know that too.

When you decide to buy your next home, schedule a meeting with an agent before you go see homes. You can even sit down with several until you find one that you want to work with.
