I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: living in Barrie is great. It is such an amazing city to be a part of. If you are one of the many people considering moving to Barrie, I can assure you, it’s a decision that you will definitely not regret making.

For starters, one of the biggest appeals to living in Barrie is the location. Centrally located in the heart of the province, Barrie gives you easy access to many parts of Ontario. If you enjoy heading up north to the cottage, then Barrie provides you with a great location from which to start. If you enjoy visiting Eastern Ontario or South Western Ontario, then you will appreciate the easy access (and relatively short drive) to get you to those locations.

To many, the biggest appeal of Barrie (from a geographical perspective) is its close proximity to the Greater Toronto Area. Being close to the GTA has its perks. You can easily head to Toronto to enjoy the entertainment, sports or cultural events which are constantly being offered there. Many people choose living in Barrie as a means to commute to the GTA for their career.

Regardless of the reason, living in Barrie gives you access to other parts of Ontario from a convenient, central location. Being on the shores of Lake Simcoe, Barrie gives its residents a picturesque view of the water. Whether you spend time at a park on the lakefront or enjoy a meal on a downtown restaurant patio, the lake provides a wonderful view. Not only is the lake enjoyable to look at, it allows residents several great swimmable beaches and year-round fishing opportunities.

If you enjoy spending time at the park, you’ll love the selection of over 90 parks located all over the city. With something for everyone, the outdoor recreational space in the city is truly remarkable. The city also provides many opportunities to enjoy the arts, with venues such as the Gryphon Theatre, the Mady Centre for the Performing Arts and the MacLaren Art Centre to name a few.
