The days of looking for home design inspiration from home magazines and remodel T.V. shows have come and gone. Pretty colours and trendy fluff pillows are just not gonna cut it for us anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I will still Pinterest away all my fave new Spring things! But at the end of the day, I’m gonna need more than that, and here is why! Insert here the dirty word… Covid -19! Once again, we are seeing the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic take over, yet another, part of our lives!

The reality is that the pandemic that hit us last year shifted so many parts of our lives, and home decor did not get a pass! Over the past year, we have become more aware of the space we live in and how functional it is for us now that we have to stay home most of the time. *Insert Crazy Real Estate Market Here* If you know what I mean!

But functionality is not the only thing we are looking for. Due to all the closures of what is considered to be “NON ESSENTIAL”, a lot of us are turning our homes into little sectors of all the things that matter, like getting a decent work out in!

Here are the top 3 Home Trends that are here to stay in 2021!

Home Gyms

Bye Bye unused dining room and Hello new work out space! Clearly our days of gathering with family members for big family dinners are on (what feels like a permanent) pause! So why not make the best of this space. If there is one good thing to come out of this pandemic is the awareness for our health and wellness. For those who’s weekly routine involved visiting a gym or to the newcomers who are trying to make the best of the time spent at home. A work out space has become increasingly popular!

Home Offices

Repeat after me, “Working from Home is FUN!!!” At least that’s the lie we all thought was true before we started to do it ourselves! Working from home can have its perks, don’t get me wrong. But it also takes a huge level of discipline. The reality is, most of us have never worked from home and trying to find the right balance between Zoom meetings and Netflix’s Bridgerton can be a difficult task! That is why it is so important to have a designated space where you can hide away and do all the important 9-5 things. A home office space is no longer on peoples “wish list”. It has quickly made the leap into the “must have NOW” list for most home owners, and as I write this (while trying to push a 6 year old out of my own space) we totally understand why!

Elevated Outdoor Space

Ahhhhh! The home oasis! I don’t know about you but the second I was told I couldn’t travel anywhere, my plans for the backyard renovations started! Even now, after one Summer has come and gone in pandemic life, the plans for what we can do in our backyard continue. And we are not the only ones trying to get that in-ground pool in the backyard! There is a BACKLOG of people trying to turn their outdoor space into a little piece of paradise. With no end in sight for when we can hop on a plane and explore new waters, the outdoor space in our home is what we have to play with. Getting creative outdoors can be fun. From inexpensive ideas such as fire tables with seating, sectional sofas perfect for lounging with a good book or dining sets that allow you a different scenery for dinner time, you can make your home feel larger and more functional making use of your outdoor space.
