It’s the first week of October and for us Canadian, that means Thanksgiving is around the corner! Unlike our American friend down south, we have two Holidays to celebrate this months and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Yes yes, Thanksgiving is an amazing time to gather the family (cautiously of course, as it is 2021 and no gathering anymore comes without a warning label lol) and share a delicious meal. The traditional items such as turkey, stuffing and of course Apple pie are essential! No pumpkin in our house! But did you know that there are many amazing things that you can get out and do in Simcoe County this Thanksgiving weekend that just may be spice your holiday tradition was missing!

Apple Picking

Take the family over to Avalon Orchards in Innisfil, which will be open all Thanksgiving weekend long and pick your very own Apples!

Pumpkin Patch

We are so blesses to have so many amazing locations surrounding us here in Simcoe County that offer the experience of picking your own pumpkins! Barrie Hill Farms has a very good supply of pumpkins, will be open all weekend long and has the cutest, fullest market for you to shop all the goodies you will need to put together a decent Thanksgiving spread. Chappell Farms is the place to go if you want a day full of activities. There is a magic show, a petting zoo, corn maze and so much more! And of course, you can also pick your pumpkins there.

Take a drive and hit up a stand

Laura’s Farm Stand is one of my favourite things to visit in the Fall. If you have never been, located in Cookstown, Laura’s Farm Stand is a roadside stand that offers farm fresh produce for sale and flower fields to explore.

If all else fails, Take a walk!

We are blessed to live in a place where the colours of the season show up so prominently. There really is no Fall season without the reds, oranges, yellows in the trees. Take some time and walk some of the amazing trails in our area and soak in the magic of the season.
