Finding you a space to come home to

Your home is not merely an address. It’s the place where you invest your life.

No matter how busy the days get, or how frequently you move around, one fact should always remain: you have a space to come home to.

The Hearth & Home Team is on a mission to make your house a home, wherever that might be.

We specialize in military relocation, meaning we are highly qualified and experienced to assist you in the sale of your present home or the purchase of your next home in your new posting.

But that’s not all.

We help first-time buyers choose the right door as you take that initial step into the real estate market.

We help families find the home that will serve as the backdrop to all of your precious memories.

Your home is your foundation. It’s your security blanket. It’s where your dreams are born (and where the tequila is poured once they come true).

Buying or selling your home is a significant milestone, and we’re here to help you make the best decision for your family and your finances.

Real Estate Is Much More Than a Transaction To Us

Our roots in real estate run deep. As a military brat herself, our founding agent, Heather, knows what it’s like to move around a lot. Mariale isn’t a stranger to moving either – while she was born in Peru, her family called Southern California home before settling down in Ontario.

When it comes to making a house a home, it isn’t about how long you’re staying there. It’s about the way it makes you feel – not just on the day you sign the dotted line, but in the weeks, months and years to come.

Your house is an investment in your future – and in order to make the right decision, you need to be able to imagine your life here. At Heart & Home, we promise to:

Help crunch the numbers for you to determine your actual affordability (and then stick to it).

Keep resale top of mind, ensuring the boxes are checked when it comes time to sell and/or you get your next posting (fact: location is everything).

Share our expertise on the local neighbourhood so you know where the best schools are (even if you don’t have kids yet).
Assess how the home fits with your five-year plan, and provide our honest and experienced feedback.
It’s about paying the right price, to be in the right neighbourhood, for the right place to call home.

We’re here to guide you through every step of the home buying or selling process, so you can feel confident knowing you’ll have a space you love coming home to for the months and years ahead.

Crazy Cat Lady

Growing up a military brat, it’s safe to say my family moved around a lot. I always lived on base – I was even baptized on Base Borden. And I hated moving. It was the
hardest part of growing up in a military family.

Still, no matter where we were located, or how often our surroundings changed, our house was our home. It’s where we hosted Friday “cook-your-own-meal” nights and gathered for roast beef dinner every Sunday.

When you’re immersed in the military lifestyle, you never know where you’re going to live next. But a home represents so much more than a physical location. It’s a sense of togetherness. It’s where you feel happiest and most at ease.

I got into real estate on a total whim. At 21, I was hired in an admin role as a co-op placement for my degree in Business Administration. The agent I was working for at the time convinced me to get my license.

To be completely honest, I have a black thumb when it comes to interior decorating. I don’t even like buying fancy clothes. It wasn’t a passion for sales that inspired me to pursue this career path, either.

I love being able to help our clients find a home they adore.

Unlike many other agents, I’m an introvert. While my husband is working the crowd at the house party, I’m the one hanging out by the cheese tray. But it’s different when I’m one-on-one. I really enjoy getting to know my clients on a personal level. In fact, many of them end up becoming good friends of mine.

After working in this industry for over a decade, it’s not about how many houses I sell; it’s about how happy my clients feel in the homes they buy. This is why our business is built upon referrals. Our clients know we truly care for their well-being and we’ll do what it takes to get them into the home that’s right for them.

When I’m not helping clients buy and sell homes, I’m probably playing hockey, watching hockey, travelling with my husband or hanging out at home with our cats.

Your home isn’t just a roof over your head; it’s a feeling. My kitchen isn’t just a space where I share meals with my family; it’s where I go to dance it out after a long day.

Like Heather, I also moved around a lot throughout my childhood. I was born in Peru and then left for California with my family at age five, before we settled down in Ontario when I was a teenager.

While living in Peru, I spent almost every weekend at my grandmother’s house. To this day, I vividly remember the layout of that home. I can picture the way she kept the glasses on the bar cart. I can walk through the entire footprint in my mind, passed the rows of houseplants and out onto the terrace where we kept the rabbits.

These early childhood memories have defined what “home” means to me. Now, I get to help our clients discover this definition for themselves.

I have an eye for interior design. I love to decorate – a trait I inherited from my grandmother. And I love helping clients envision the full potential of what their home could become.

I’m an extrovert. I enjoy hosting people in my own home – feeding you and making you feel welcome. It’s part of my culture. Most of all, I enjoy being of service and helping people – a quality I discovered at a young age, as the only child of a single mother.

Now, working as a real estate agent, I get to stand by our clients at one of the happiest moments of their lives. It’s by far the most rewarding part of the job for me.

When I’m not working with clients or handling administrative tasks at the office, I’m most likely mixing sipping on a margarita and/or spending quality time with my husband and our three kids.
